Soprano Jane Shivick is among this region’s most accomplished and versatile musicians and has garnered high praise for her extraordinary vocal abilities. She embraces a dual career as an opera singer and a voice teacher, with passion and commitment to both her audience and the next generation of singers.
“Jane is a highly skilled instructor. She is not only a master of her craft, but able to translate her own mastery of voice to help her students develop their own expertise. Jane celebrates students’ individuality and meets them where they are, finding a way to weave embodied learning techniques with mental visualizations and metaphors to help students explore their voices, experiment with technique, and perhaps most importantly, reflect on what they are feeling and noticing throughout the process. Jane balances a warm demeanor with the knowledge of when to push students outside their comfort zones, resulting in many opportunities to feel vulnerable when learning but also grow as a vocalist. My lessons with Jane have become a weekly experience I genuinely look forward to, one that always leaves me feeling better than when I arrived.” ~ Dr. Stacy Tamsen, PhD.
